Mega Electronics Hospital Grade Power CordsSeptember 25, 2013Mega Electronics Hospital Grade power cords are somewhat different from standard power cords. These power cords are intended for domestic (North American) use and all feature 5-15P plugs, meaning they have two parallel straight blade pins plus a grounding pin. The Hospital Grade power cords meet the standards set by NEMA, and fit the UL 544 and UL 817 standards. UL 544 standards were made specifically for medical devices and UL 817 refers to power cords. Therefore they are ideal for supplying power to various medical and dental applications. This makes them safer to handle for those who work with medical equipment, as well as for the patients. The plugs themselves are larger and the plug pins are more solid to make the cords more durable and present less of a shock risk. The Hospital Grade power cords are available for sale through our online store or can be purchased over the phone. They are UL & CSA approved with cable lengths of 3.1 or 4.6 meters, with C13 connectors on the other end. C13 sockets are characterized by their 3 vertical contact points and are most often found with computer equipment or in providing power. The non-detachable version typically has around 6 mm of stripped wire. They are rated for 10 or 13 amps with a voltage rating of 125V. These power cords feature either 18 or 16 AWG wire, depending on the part. |
