The Macromatic CAH05A8AJ is a current sensing relay. This encapsulated relay has an input voltage of 24V AC/DC. It monitors for over or undercurrent conditions and has an output of 10A SPDT. It checks AC current, with an adjustable range of 0.5-5A and a trip time delay of 0.15-7 seconds. There is a 6 second sensing time delay on startup. The integrated current transformer adds easier access and greater sensitivity, as the wire can be looped around more than once. The encapsulated housing is ideal under more demanding conditions.

The relay has a switch that allows the user to choose whether the relay looks for over or under current conditions. The relay starts checking for possible errors once the input voltage is implemented. For an overcurrent situation, it occurs when the AC current goes above the set Fault Trip Current for a longer period than the adjusted time delay. The relay energizes after the time delay and stays energized until the current goes below the reset level. For an undercurrent fault, the current goes under the set Fault Trip Current for longer than the time delay. Again, the relay energizes after the time delay and will de-energize once the current goes above the reset level. The CAH05A8AJ has an LED which glows red to indicate when an error is found. Has pilot duty rating. Application examples include process control, checking for locked rotor or load loss, or open heater or lamp.
