New to Major Electronix is the line of DetasUltra cable entry systems from AerosUSA. This expands on the current selection of cable entry systems. The selection from AerosUSA currently features entry frames with square grommets and multiple wire entry sizes, that can fit inside the frame as part of a modular system.

What is a cable entry system?

A cable entry system provides a way to send multiple cables or conduit through the wall of an enclosure or control panel. They are useful when a high concentration of cables needs to pass through, as it saves the user from having to use separate strain relief cable glands for each one. This lowers the cost of buying several different components, and reduces installation time, as the user can create a single cutout rather than drilling multiple holes. It is also ideal when dealing with different cable sizes. Cable entry frames have a split design and are made for cables with connectors already attached, while cable entry plates often have a push-through membrane for cables without connectors. Frames have separate grommets that sit inside the frame, while plates are one piece. Frames and plates come in multiple sizes to accommodate different amounts of cable. While they often provide strain relief for the cable, they also typically offer protection from dirt, dust, and moisture.

Currently available through the Major Electronix online store are the DES series cable entry frames from AerosUSA. The split design of the frame applies not only to the frame itself but to the grommets that sit inside it as well. This way a cable does not have to have a connector removed to be installed. Depending on the size of the frame, anywhere from 2 to 10 grommets can fit inside. Grommets can have up to 4 cable entries, or be blank so it can fill an empty space within in the frame. Grommets can also be double size to accept large size cable. Any combination of grommets that fit inside the frame can be used, and they can be switched out as needed, creating a modular design. The DES series frame is fastened together using Allen screws. The frames & grommets have an IP 66 & NEMA 4X rating, and have UV protection.

Coming soon to the online store will be cable entry plates that feature a double membrane, for better protection from dust and moisture. The plates can be rectangular or round, with the round plates being able to fit inside a threaded hole. Like the frames, the plates have a combination of cable entries in multiple sizes. Unlike the frames, they do not use separate grommets. The plates are also IP 66 and NEMA 4X rated, and have UV protection. Other types of frames will also be added, including those that snap shut, have double capacity, or use brushes instead of grommets. Frames with brushes are ideal for environments that need dust protection but not moisture protection.
