The Macromatic VAKP048D is a voltage monitor relay. This 8 Pin plug-in relay has a nominal voltage of 48V DC. It monitors against over or under voltage errors and has an output of 10A DPDT. The VAKP048D features an adjustable pick-up voltage & drop-out voltage, with an adjustable drop-out time delay ranging from 0.1-10 sec. It features an LED that is red when the unit is energized or green when it is not. It uses an 8 Pin 70169-D octal socket.

When the voltage stays above the preset pick-up voltage (36-60V DC), then the unit is energized. If the voltage goes below the preset drop-out for greater duration than the drop-out time delay, then it de-energizes. Whether the VAKP048D operates for undervoltage or overvoltage protection is subject to the kind of output contacts being used.
Overvoltage
Overvoltage protection makes use of a normally closed contact. The voltage needs to stay below the preset pick-up voltage for the load to be energized while the relay itself remains de-energized. If the voltage goes above the pick-up, the reverse happens, until voltage goes below the preset drop-out.
Undervoltage
Undervoltage monitoring requires a normally open contact. The load stays on and the relay is energized if the voltage stays above the preset pick-up. Voltage going below the preset drop-out de-energizes both the load and the relay.
